Due to the ongoing harsh weather the Bridge club has cancelled all Wednesday night competitions until there is an improvement in the weather conditions.

Shannon Gaels Yearbook

The Shannon Gaels Minor Club year book is almost ready to go to print and the official launch will take place at the first night of Search for a Star.  Each year the book has been a huge success and this year’s copies will be presented free of charge to all patrons of Search for a Star and every members household will also receive a free copy. If you too would like a copy please email me at joea@iol.ie

Great Community Spirit

During this harsh weather conditions it is wonderful to see that the community spirit is alive and well and thriving in the area. A large number of younger and able bodied people are calling into their neighbours and the older generation to ensure that they have ample supplies and that the heat is on for them. We are a wonderful community and long may that spirit remain in our community. During this spell it is important that we continue to drop in say hello and do the necessary jobs.

Birth

Congratulations to Vinny and Caroline Farrell, Carrowstrawley on the recent birth of a baby boy.

Search for a Star is coming back

The hugely popular Shannon Gaels promoted Search for a Star will once again hit the stage in St. Mary’s Parish Hall on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th February. The acts are just getting together now in preparation for what is sure to be another wonderful nights entertainment produced by the minor club. At present there are 17 acts signed up for the show and there are negotiations ongoing with a local high flyer that he will make himself available for the show.

Each year there has been great disappointment by large numbers that they were unable to get a seat for the shows such was it popularity. This year, I am sure, will be no different. Bookings are now being taken in O’Brien’s Corner Shop and early booking is advisable. Tickets are priced at €10 each.

The club would like to invite all the many people that are away from back to the parish for one of those wonderful nights of craic, hence the availability of pre booking for the first time. If you wish to book please contact Joe, Martina or Bridgie O’Brien, phone 043-3321107 or email Joe at joea@iol.ie
