Unfortunately due to the curse of storm ÉOWYN there will be no notes this week. To be without electricity, water, internet and phone coverage was a massive experience.
As I write there are still many in our locality that have NO electricity, water or some just got it back this morning. The prospects for some local areas is the 2nd to the 6th February.
The recently formed Government have NOT in any way been a support to the people of rural communities but then we come to expect that once they get elected. There is no point in saying shame to them at they seem to know no shame.
A shining beacon through all of this has been our recently elected Councillor Sean Mimnagh who was front and centre throughout.
A special word must go to the many people on Friday last that cleared all the blocked road of trees without even being asked. It showed a wonderful community spirit in a time of crisis. Many thanks to everyone that, unseen, did so much to help and assist everyone that was in need of assistance.
Finally, the amount of all service workers – many of them local – that have done a remarkable amount of work in trying to restore all the services in absolutely awful conditions must be praised and congratulated. They were and still remain superstars in my eyes and deserve the highest accolade.
I hope to be back with the ‘home news’ next Monday.
