Saturday is so important
To date there has been a great response to the Think Tank from people home and abroad wanting to be part of a new job project for Lanesboro and Ballyleague. If you are unavailable to attend and have not make your contribution yet we encourage you to do so on or before Thursday next.
The potential of creating jobs here will benefit all our surrounding communities and bring people back to work and live in their home communities hence only having to drive just a few miles to their workplace. The possibility of a lifestyle change is growing within the many hundreds of thousands that are having to commute for hours and live in jampacked cities. The urge to live, work and rear children in an easy-going setting is a rapidly growing trend.
If this is what you are looking for then you should be looking at what is happening in Lanesboro/Ballyleague this coming weekend.
The Lanesboro Ballyleague Collaboration Group invites you to St. Mary’s Parish Hall on this coming Saturday 21st September from 2pm to 6pm for what we are sure will being a radical change for the entire area.
Accommodation Providers
Are you interested? The Collaboration group have spoken to Fáilte Ireland about people from their Accommodation Provider department to come to Lanesboro to speak to people that may be interested in becoming Accommodation Providers from single rooms, B&B, Guesthouses and hotels. As well as our local community this meeting is open to people from all surrounding parishes and towns.
You are asked to register your interest by contacting Joe at joeaobrien@outlook.com with Accommodation Provider in your subject box or phone Joe 086-2460840.

Death
On Friday 13th we lost one of our most respected and loved ladies when the news broke of the death at Roscommon University Hospital of Pauline Brennan, Moher. Pauline was an institution on both sides of the bridge. She was a deeply religious lady and her devoutness was a joy to behold. Pauline was a tremendous community lady and there was never a task big or small that she was not prepared to help out with. She was a quiet spoken lady with a warm and heartfelt welcome for friend and stranger alike. Pauline was always instantly recognisable by her warm greeting and wonderful smile. She was an outstanding neighbour and her passing will leave a great void in our community. Pauline worked for many years with Molloy’s Supermarket on Roscommon’s Main Street where she was a legendary figure.
Her remains reposed at Smyth’s Funeral Home on Saturday last before being removed to The Church of the Holy Rosary, Ballyleague. Pauline was laid to rest following her Requiem Mass on Monday in Cloontuskert Cemetery.

Ballyboro FC
A busy weekend with four teams in in league and cup action.
First up were the under 13s who played the very highly rated
Galway outfit Athenry FC in the SFAI Connacht Cup. The Ballyboro lads played
with great heart and commitment laced with no little skill, but in the end a
number of missed gilt edged scoring opportunities was to prove costly, as they
were just edged out on a 4-3 scoreline. Daniel Hogan and Christian Donlon (2)
scored for Ballyboro. Team: Ronan Cox, Anthony Cox, David Cox, Jack Casey, Jack
Beattie, Ethan Slattery, Christian Donlon, Euan Cullen, Daniel Hogan, Ben
Murphy, Billy Murray. Subs: Baulius Rasa, Conn Maxwell, Luke Johnston. Thanks
are due to Ann and Carol who prepared a scrumptious feed for both teams after
the game.
The under 12s had a very entertaining tussle with
Stonepark and the game ended fittingly in a draw 1-1. Rian Hogan scored a
cracking goal for Ballyboro. Team: Adam Farrell, Eoin Connell, Ciaran McGloin, Eoin
Beattie, Ryan Mimnagh, Matthew Murray, Ethan Slattery, Billy Murray, Rian
Hogan, Subs: Mikie Sorohan and Dan Casey.
Stonepark provided the opposition for both the under 14
and under 15 teams. Both teams were playing their first games of the season and
were short key personnel. This was reflected in the end result as Stonepark
were comfortable winners in both games. Under 15s: Ciaran O’Dowd, Bryan
Mullooly, Ryan Byrne, Cormac O’Dowd, Martin Dooner, Jack Mc Gloin, Shane Ross, Jimmy
Farrell, Conor Lyons, Ella Hogan, Matthew Heneghan. Sub: Christian Donlon (2
goals). Under 14s: Sam Glennon, Josh Crawford, Ciaran O’Dowd, Kevin Donlon, Ruairi
Carling, Alex Forde, James Mimnagh, Joey Trimble(1 goal),Luke Cullen, Eoin
Cox(1goal), Jack Phelan, Subs: Rory Killian, Fionn Crossan.
The under 11s enjoyed their game at half time at City Calling
Stadium on Saturday last. Matthew Murray, Eoin Connell, Ciaran McGloin, Mikey
Sorohan, Evan Rooney, Josh Curran, Eoghan Mullooly, Oisin Dillon, Dan Casey, and
Darragh McGloin were on duty for Ballyboro. Thanks to Longford Town for their
cooperation, and in particular Avril Gilchrist.
Christian Donlon took part in his first session as part
of the National Under 13 Academy on Sunday last. This is a great honour for
Christian and indeed the club, as he is the first player from the club to make
the National Academy, and the only player from the League to be selected.
Fixtures: The under 12s play Killoe Celtic in the Under 12
Connacht Cup on Sunday in Abbeycartron at 10.30.The under 13s are away to
Ballymahon on Saturday at 11am. The under 14s are away to Newtown in the Under
14 Connacht Cup on Sunday at 12 noon. The under 15s play Ballymahon in
