Death
The entire area was saddened to learn of the death at Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown on Thursday last of George Crooke, The Green. George was predeceased only last September by his late wife Pearl. He worked in Bord na Mona until his retirement. George a native of Kenagh lived amongst us for many a long year and became an intrinsic part of our community throughout his time here. He was involved in all the events of the parish and indeed played a leading role in many of the drama productions in the years past. George was a warm and friendly man with a tremendous sense of humor and his campaigning days for Joe Sheridan were legendary – the stories will continue to live long in the memory. He was a great neighbour and friend. His passing will leave a great void in the hearts and minds of everyone that knew him. His remains were removed to Farrell’s Funeral Home where he reposed until his removal to St. John’s Church on Saturday for his Funeral service. Following the Funeral Service his remains were laid to rest in his native Kenagh in the grounds if St. George’s Church.
Championship Times
On Friday night next, 26th July, the long wait is over for the St. Faithleach’s senior team when they travel to Ballyforan where they will play Padraig Pearses in the Roscommon senior championship. We wish the lads well and hope that a big contingent from the area will travel to cheer the lads on. The throw in is timed for 8.30pm
The Rathcline Intermediate team began their championship campaign on Saturday last with a hard earned draw against Legan. A draw at half time and going three points into the lead with 15mins to go it looked rosy but some pieces of bad luck on our part allowed Legan to come back into the game and with virtually the last kick of the game they drew level. The next round of the championship will take place the weekend of the 10th August and the opposition will be known after the draw is made in Abbeylara on Sunday evening next.
Upcoming Production
The play The Quare Lane written by John Mc Manus has been receiving tremendous reviews of late and the Shannon Gaels Minor Club and Rathcline Ladies Club have been very fortunate to secure this play for St. Mary’s Hall Lanesboro this coming October. The play is directed by and starring the legendary Seamus O’Rourke and Shane Carroll will also play a leading role.

The club is seeking volunteer swimmers to join with them on the swim. If you are interested please contact sponsoredswim@trilanesboro.com. This will be a wonderful and new challenge for swimmers but most definitely an excellent cause will benefit to a major extent.
