Text Alert extends its service
The text alert system is now up and running. All mobile and landline numbers have been entered into the system.
Now that Rathcline Text Alert committee has everything in place they are inviting the people of Ballyleague and indeed the wider Kilgefin parish to be part of the system. The benefits to the community are many and being part of the system means we are all looking out for each other. Because of our proximity to each other the system is of great benefit to us all and also creates a greater security to us all as a community.
If you would like to be part of the text alert system in the area you should contact O’Brien’s Corner Shop where you can pick up an envelope and
The workings of the system are as follows: If you witness anything that you think is out of place or a car or van in an unlikely location or acting suspiciously you should immediately ring Longford Garda station 33 50570 or Lanesboro Garda station 33 21102. They will immediately check the situation you reported and if they have to act on it they will send text message to local facilitator who will immediately send out text alerting everyone to the need to be vigilant and report back to garda station what you notice. It is very important that everyone is attentive.
Sympathy
We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Marcella and Pat Mulryan and family, Church View on the recent death of Marcella’s father Larry Farrell, Clondra.

Lough Ree Sub Aqua Club
Lough Ree Sub Aqua Club Search and Rescue unit will hold a social night in St. Faithleach’s clubhouse on Friday night 31st August. Following the recent fire at their clubhouse that caused many hundreds of thousands of euros worth of damage it is vital for them that they replace all the damaged and burned equipment as soon as possible. Lough Ree Sub Aqua club is vital to us as a community as much as it is so vital for the search and rescue they carry out for families throughout the country. It is very important that the entire area comes out and supports the club to get back to its firm standing once again.
Ticket sellers will be out and about throughout the local area over the coming weeks and we ask you to be as supportive as you possibly can be.
