Come and celebrate with St. John’s
Very few opportunities in life come along to allow a community celebrate 150 years of anything. The opportunity is now here for us to join and celebrate with the St. John’s Church and local congregation on their great achievement. The weekend 20th to 22nd April is close upon us and there is a great line-up of special events to celebrate. The St John’s community is an integral part of our community and has been a wonderful mainstay in our community for the 150 years.
Fittingly, the opening on the evening of Friday 20th will be a Children’s Service at 7pm where the children of Lanesboro’s Primary School alongside the St. John’s Sunday School children will dramatise the building of Solomon’s Temple and it will be followed by ‘a party’ for both young and old.
On Saturday 21st there will be an extensive exhibition and display of the Church history in the Church of items relating to St. John’s. The church will be open from 10am to 6pm and everybody is invited.
On Sunday 22nd the Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving will take place at 3.30pm. Special Preacher for this very special ceremony will be Bishop Ken Clarke. Following the Service refreshments will be served in St. Mary’s hall.
A huge amount of work and preparations have gone into the preparation and you are invited to go along and join in the weekend celebrations. The community would like to thank the local school and the St. Mary’s management committee for the use of their premises.
