Lough Ree 2000 Bridge Club
The club distinguished itself by taking a four pair first place ranking in the All Ireland Irish Bridge Union Pairs played recently. This was a great achievement by the Club members considering that a total of 53 bridge clubs took part with an entry of 1059 pairs. This club had 23 pairs taking part and two pairs figured in the top 10 places, with another two pairs also highly ranked. Congratulations to Margaret Gillen/Mae Casey in taking 7th place and Joan Donnellan/Barbara Ferguson in taking 9th position out of the 1059 pairs that played. Christmas Fair
The Annual Christmas Craft Fair will take place in tandem with the indoor Market in the Co-op hall, on next Friday 4th December 2009, from 11am to 6pm. Last year’s Fair was an outstanding success and I believe this year will be even bigger and better. The stands will include bread, jams, eggs, fish, cakes, knitwear, books, vegetables, household items and jewellery to name a few. The success of the Friday markets has been great and it is very important that all the neighbouring communities both use the opportunity to sell their goods at the market and also that the people from these communities turnout on Friday to buy and support the Co-op who are doing such a wonderful job in the promotion of local produce.
The success of the market is solely down to the people of our local communities. The Co-op hall I am sure will be thronged to capacity on this and every Friday.
