Poetry Launch Huge Success

Friday night last in Lanesboro Margaret Nohilly launched her first book of poetry ‘April Promise’ before a huge attendance. The book was officially launched by local author Jack Harte and it was especially pleasing to see such a wonderful response to the launch. I congratulate Margaret and wish her every success with her ‘April Promise’.

The book of poetry can be bought in O’Brien’s casting only €10 and it is well worth the money.

Recent Comments

The recent comments made in these notes regarding the Green project, the duck pond and the walkway along into the Coillte woods have been very well received and are gaining great support from a huge number of the local community on both sides of the bridge. I t is very heartening that the community should be so vocal in their support for these excellent projects and we look forward to many more positive initiatives happening in the area in the very near future.

There has been a remarkable response from locals and the disappointing aspect has been the response from the powers that be into my piece last week (see www.joeobrien.ie ) relating to the policing of the Lanesboro and Kilgefin communities. This is the most pertinent and pressing matter for us all and we deserve to have our area policed in manner that assures us of full protection. Community policing has been an initiative of the Garda but in this respect we are being sadly let down. We deserve comment and action to the problem in our twin communities and we ask that we receive both in the immediate future.

Rathcline GAA Lotto

The Shannon Gaels minor club have responsibility for the Rathcline Loot draw that will take place on Saturday night 31st October. The full proceeds collected by the minor club will go towards the pitch development. It is hoped that there will be a huge response to the ticket seller and your support will be very welcome.

U11 SFAI Menton-Seery Cup: Ballyboro Tigers V Galway Hibs. Final Score 2-0. Boro Tigers made the trip to Galway on Saturday last and came away with a very good win. This was the Tigers at their best. Boro had Galway Hibs under pressure from the start & were very unlucky not to have had more that a goal up at half-time. Some great work from Steven Walsh down the wing where he beat 2 defenders to send a great ball across to Daniel Foley who met it with a great header to find the net. Hibs had a good 10minute spell into the second-half but Boro defence stood strong. 8 minutes from full-time a great ball from midfield found Daniel Foley on the edge of the box where he turned the defender & send a great shot to the corner of the net to secure his 2nd goal for Boro. This was a great display from the 15 players who travelled to Galway. Man of the Match, Steven Walsh. Many thanks to all parents for their support and travelling to Galway for this game. Speedy recovery to Keith Murphy & Luke Parker.
