Lanesboro Ballyleague 27th July’09

Lanesboro Ballyleague Notes

Saturday Night Fever

Saturday evening next promises to a wonderful evening of fun and frolics in the town of Lanesboro. The Shannon Gaels second Annual Wheelbarrow triathlon and Bar-b-que will take place with many tough hurdles facing the contestants. The first race will commence following Mass at 8.15pm and the entire community is invited to come out and join in what should be a wonderful piece of fun. If the comical scenes of last year are to be replicated then it is well worth coming along for a great deal of hilarity. The obstacles have yet to be announced and it is commonly felt that the obstacles will be kept secret and unveiled on the evening so that nobody will have an advantage over anybody else. Sponsorship cards are in all the participating businesses in the town and your support will be of great assistance to the continuing

Following the Triathlon the club will hold its Bar-b-que and will present the wonderful Colm Mulligan in the Parish Hall. Colm Mulligan has been the leading entertainer in the midlands and west for a number of years and it is a great coup that the club will have him playing in the Parish Hall. Bar-b-que food will be available and again the club invites everybody in the Parish to come along.

As this is the holiday season and there will be a lot of people coming into the area we ask that you bring along your guests and have them part of what is a full parish event. The cost of attending the night in the Hall is only a very nominal €5. There is and never will be value like this in the parish for a long time to come. The club continues to promote community spirit which is a vital aspect in the club going forward and welcome each and everyone to what should be another marvellous evening in the annals of Shannon Gaels Minor Club.
